Sunrise Boston Climate Prep Week Workshop

The Sunrise Movement is a youth-led social movement intent on stopping climate change while creating millions of good jobs.

Our Climate Prep Week library workshop will include presentation-style discussions about the history of social change, and how Sunrise fits into the picture. We'll move on to skill-building aimed at communicating about tricky and often contentious issues. We will wrap up by identifying actions steps for those who are interested. While not limited to young people, we'll intentionally engage first with energized youth in order to identify and train the leaders of the present and future.

Sunrise Boston, the decentralized "hub" of the movement composed of organizers and activists in the greater-Boston area, frequently visits schools to educate classrooms in social movement theory, meets with community groups and organizations to discuss the urgency of the climate crisis and what we can do, and hosts in-depth trainings for new and interested activists. We would like to bring a hybrid of those individual strands of teaching to Climate Preparedness Week to engage with communities concerned about their present and future given our uncertain and volatile climate. We want to share our message of hope, demonstrate our tactics for winning, and show folks who may have never been exposed to this side of politics that it's really easier than many think - especially when we work together.
