WHAT IS CLIMATE PREPAREDNESS WEEK?
Since 2018, CREW has hosted Climate Preparedness Week, marking a week of learning, service, and actions to better prepare our communities for extreme weather events and the effects of climate change. It's the last week of September, in connection with National Preparedness Month. With a diverse variety of community-oriented groups coming together to host events and raise awareness of extreme weather threats, we provide the resources and space to think about how climate change impacts everyone, and how it disadvantages some communities more than others.

CREW CENTRAL EVENTS
CREW is proud to kickoff Climate Preparedness Week 2026 at Unity Farm Sanctuary in Sherborn, Massachusetts. The team at Unity are dedicated to compassionate farmed animal care, sustainable organic land management practices, the direct demonstration power of kindness, and the value of volunteerism -- seeking positive changes for animals, the environment, and people alike. Please join us for a presentation on their work at Unity, followed by a tour where we'll have the opportunity to meet the sanctuary's residents!

Join Sierra Club Massachusetts and CREW for a nationwide day of action to demand no expansions of offshore oil drilling in our oceans, and urge our elected officials to take action to protect our oceans and marine life by supporting the transition to a clean energy future with offshore wind. We will share what drives us to take action, lock hands to demonstrate a physical line in the land against oil drilling, and solidify our commitment to advocating for a clean energy future and healthy climate. Bring a friend, wear blue or ocean colors, and help create a powerful visual message: protect our ocean, protect our future.

Join CREW and the Make Polluters Pay campaign for a fun and lively mixer. Meet fellow climate activists, neighbors and community members to find out how you can get involved in the campaign. It's fall so expect: Light refreshments, snacks, and good music indoors. After the mixer there will be a spotlight training for those interested in building skills needed to make the campaign effective.
The Mixer goes from 5:00-6:30 PM, the training from 6:30-8 PM.
What is spotlighting? Also known as birddogging, spotlighting is the practice of showing up at public events where elected officials are present, to ask them on-the-record questions about your issue and create public accountability. Sound scary? It can be but this is a useful and essential tactic to build pressure on elected officials so come join in the fun! We're hosting this training is to talk through the most intimidating parts of spotlighting and ensure you feel set-up for success!
This 90-minute training will review different types of spotlighting, review video of previous spotlighting tactics to pick out what works and what doesn't, and then we'll get into some role play. This is a great training for all activists, no matter your priority issue, so please spread the word!
